Our practice
Who we are and how we care for our community
Welcome to Parkgrove Medical Centre
We're delighted to welcome you to Parkgrove Medical Centre. Our friendly team is here to care for you, your family, and our wider community in Edinburgh.
We're committed to providing high-quality NHS care in a welcoming environment. Whether you need help with an ongoing condition, advice about a new symptom, or support for your family's health, we're here to help.
We work as part of a wider healthcare team, including community nurses, pharmacists, and hospital specialists, to make sure you get the right care at the right time.
Practice area and registration
To register with Parkgrove Medical Centre, you need to live within our practice boundary area. This covers parts of Edinburgh including the local Parkgrove area and surrounding neighbourhoods.
If you move outside our practice area, you may need to register with a GP practice closer to your new home. We'll help make this transition as smooth as possible.
Practice catchment information
We don’t publish a detailed map of our catchment area on this site. To check whether your address is within our practice area, you can use the NHS Inform directory or contact reception with your postcode and we’ll confirm for you.
- Search by postcode on NHS Inform (opens in a new tab).
- Contact the practice and provide your postcode — we’ll check on your behalf.
If you're unsure, we're happy to check your postcode for you.
Services and clinics
We offer a wide range of NHS services to help you and your family stay healthy. Here are some of the main clinics and services available at our practice.

Help with stopping smoking, reducing alcohol intake, managing weight, and becoming more active for better long-term health.
Practice policies and ethos
We're committed to providing care that is respectful, dignified, and confidential. We work in partnership with our patients and expect to be treated with the same respect in return.
We operate a zero-tolerance policy towards abuse, aggression, or harassment of any staff member.
You can request a chaperone for any examination. Just ask at reception or let the clinician know.
We take the protection of children and vulnerable adults seriously and follow NHS Scotland safeguarding procedures.
We sometimes host medical students and trainee GPs. You'll always be asked for consent before they join a consultation.
We welcome and respect all patients regardless of background, and are committed to providing inclusive care.
Our ethos
We treat every patient with respect, dignity, and compassion. Your information is kept confidential, and we aim to work in partnership with you to support your health and wellbeing.
Working with other services
Your care often involves a team of healthcare professionals, not just your GP. We work closely with other NHS services to make sure you get joined-up care.
District nurses and community nurses who provide care at home for patients who cannot easily travel.
Supporting families from pregnancy through the early years with home visits and clinic appointments.
Your local pharmacy can help with many minor conditions and medication queries without needing an appointment.
When you need specialist care, we refer you to NHS Lothian hospitals and work with consultants to coordinate your treatment.
If you're referred to another service, we'll explain why and what to expect. You can always ask us questions about your care pathway.
