Registering with Parkgrove Medical Centre
Can I register here?
To register with Parkgrove Medical Centre, you need to live within our practice area. We cover parts of Edinburgh including the Parkgrove, Clermiston and surrounding neighbourhoods.
We welcome all patients, including families, students, older adults, and those with complex health needs. You do not need proof of address or immigration status to register with an NHS GP – everyone is entitled to primary care.

How to register
Check you live within our practice area
We can only register patients who live within our catchment boundary. Use the link below to check if your address is eligible.
Contact reception to register
Call or visit our reception team during opening hours. They will guide you through the registration process and provide you with the necessary information.
Provide your details
You'll need to provide some basic information including your name, address, contact details, and any relevant medical history.
What information we need
To register you, we'll ask for some basic information. Please have the following ready:
- Full name, address and contact details
- Date of birth
- NHS number (if known – don't worry if you don't have it)
- Name and address of your current or previous GP
- Any ongoing health conditions or medications
Proof of identity
You do not need to show ID to register with a GP. However, providing proof of identity and address (such as a utility bill or driving licence) can help us process your registration more quickly.
Temporary residents and visitors
Staying in the area temporarily?
If you're visiting or staying in our area for more than 24 hours but less than three months, you can register as a temporary patient. This allows you to access GP services while you're here.
Temporary registration covers things like urgent consultations, repeat prescriptions, and ongoing care for existing conditions. Simply contact reception to arrange this.
After you register
Once we receive your registration form, here's what happens next:
Processing time
Registration usually takes 1–2 working days. We'll contact you once it's complete.
Medical records
We'll request your records from your previous GP. This can take a few weeks.
Health check
You may be invited for a new patient health check with one of our nurses.
Nominated pharmacy
Choose a local pharmacy for prescriptions – we'll send them there electronically.
